Barcelona have dropped their plans to sign Jonathan Tah as they are happy with the current situation.
Portuguese sporting director Anderson Deco has revealed that Barcelona are happy with their current defensive squad and have no plans to compete with Leverkusen and Germany international Jonathan Tah, as previously reported.
Tah was close to joining Bayern Munich last summer but his move fell through after Leverkusen were demanding too much for a player with just one year remaining on his contract, with the 28-year-old later confirming he would be playing out his final season at the Bundesliga and leaving on a free transfer in the summer of 2025, with the option to sign a pre-contract from January.
Barcelona were previously report to be interest in signing Tah, who has work with Hansi Flick for the German national team, while Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are also keen on the 28-year-old, before Deco confirmed that the Blaugrana are not in the running for the centre-back.
‘The dynamics in the team change. There are times when you think of something out of necessity, the idea arises, but then during the season things happen because in football a year seems short, but it is long enough. In this case, we are not planning to sign anyone right now,’ Deco confirmed.
‘Now we have (Ronald) Araujo coming back, (Andreas) Christensen, Eric (Garcia), (Pau) Gubarsi and Inigo (Martinez). It’s time to plan what UFABET to do in the future, but for now we’re not going to make any decisions.’
‘We chose him at the time because (Marc) Bernal was injury, Eric had to move from centre-back to central midfield because we had almost no players, while (Marc) Casado is more suitable as an eight than a six, Gabi has not return from injury and all that means the decision has to be made now, but the decision now, if you can’t make it, doesn’t mean you have to make it next year. The dynamic has changed and today we are happy with what we have. ‘
